IBM acquires data analysis startup Seek AI, opens AI accelerator in NYC

IBM has acquired Seek AI, a New York-based startup specializing in natural language data querying, marking a strategic expansion of its enterprise AI capabilities. Seek AI’s technology allows business users to access complex data through simple, conversational queries, aligning with IBM’s vision of democratizing AI for broader enterprise use. This acquisition will feed directly into IBM’s Watsonx platform, integrating Seek AI’s innovation to help clients retrieve business insights more efficiently without needing deep technical expertise.

In addition to the acquisition, IBM launched a new AI accelerator program—Watsonx AI Labs—in New York City, aiming to support early-stage AI startups focused on solving real-world business challenges. Backed by IBM’s $500 million Enterprise AI Venture Fund, the initiative will offer funding, mentorship, and access to resources for selected companies. The move reflects IBM’s broader commitment to advancing enterprise AI and fostering local innovation, with partnerships also forming between IBM and local universities and research institutions.
